A black morph of a wheatear
A black morph of a wheatear was photographed in Alborz province in early June 2016. It seems to be a black morph of the Eastern Mourning Wheatear Oenanthe lugens because of having a white panel on its wings. However the Basalt form was previously known to be in Jordan and probably Iraq. Also the black form of Variable Wheatear Oenanthe picata opistholeuca was previously recorded only two times in Iran. Therefore, the identification of the black morph photographed in Alborz province will let us to know something more about these birds.
