Syn?: Jynx torquilla hyrcana Zarudny, 1913, based on a female taken from a nesting hole in forest between Lat and Rasht (Gilan) on 5 June 1904; “large and dark, as tschusii from Iberia but throat and breast even darker” [thus valid taxon and local breeder! Wherabouts of specimen not clear now]

غیر جوجه آوری به طور عمده در آفریقا در جنوب صحرای آفریقا
وضعیت و جمعیت در ایران
تنها حضور این فرم در ایران محتمل است، اگرچه J. t. sarudnyiکه در غرب سیبری جوجهآوری و جنوب آسیا و احتمالا شمال شرق آفریقا زمستانگذرانی میکند، میتواند در زمان مهاجرت دیده شود.
مهاجر عبوری به نسبت معمول احتمالا در سراسر ایران، اگرچه اغلب رکوردها از نواحی جنوب خزر، تهران و خراسان بوده است. تعداد اندکی از پرندگان زمستان را در هرمزگان سپری میکنند. در سال 1904 در جنوب غرب خزر جوجهآوری داشته است و ممکن است هنوز در این منطقه یا نواحی شمال غربی ایران جوجهآوری داشته باشد اما اخیرا تاییدی در این خصوص در دسترس نیست. Breeding from [northern and] western Europe east to Bulgaria and the Caucasus area;
Non-breeding [mainly in Africa south of Sahara]
Status in Iran
The only form known to occur in Iran, although J. t. sarudnyi, which breeds in Western Siberia and winters in southern Asia and possibly northeast Africa, could occur on passage.
Fairly common passage migrant, probably occurring throughout Iran, although most records come from south Caspian region, Tehran area and Khorasan; a few birds remain throughout the winter in Hormozgan. Found breeding in southwest Caspian region in 1904 (hyrcana), and may still breed here or in northwestern Iran, but no recent confirmation [type specimen of J. t. hyrcana from a nest]

There are several specimens in AMNH, BMNH, FMNH, MNHN, MHMTashkent, SMNS, ZISP and ZMB.
